What is vintage Stereo (audio/hifi) Equipment?

Generally speaking, anything vintage, whether it is wine, or antiques, it's something that is simply over a certain, age and is widely agreed on as desirable.  For stereo gear this era is from the actual dawn of stereo equipment in 1958 through about 1980.  Generally, the most desirable stereo components were made during this time.  The early 1980s marked a "malaise" era where mainstream home audio electronics saw a dramatic decline in build quality and serviceability.

Generally speaking, some of the brands that stood out in this era, include Pioneer, Marantz, Technics, Mcintosh, Kenwood Sansui, Yamaha, Thorens, Dual, and quite a few other makes.  Speakers, from Advent, KLH, ADS, AR, Infinity, Altec, Klipsch, JBL, KEF, and many more.

Among the attractions, is the beautiful aesthetics, and the experience of using this amazing equipment.  The only caveat is that these 45+ year old receivers, amps and turntables are usually in need of service.  This our speciality.
